The Downstairs Mix-Up
The music of this band from the NSW Far North Coast has been compared to that of 1970's identities Steely Dan and Frank Zappa and the band's sound is a bit of a salad; some funky grooves tossed over a heap of blues with a hint of rock'n'roll. After winning the 20th Anniversary National Campus Band Competition (NCBC) in September 2009 the band has been hard at work recording their debut EP as well as playing local shows.
When the band lies down head to toe they stretch out for just over 13.5 meters and this is made up by; Harry Nichols on vocals and guitars supported by James 'Jimmy T' Taylor on Keyboards. The illustrious Mark Hoare plays lead guitar with Owen Hogan on saxophone. The rhythm section is held together by Shay Henderson on drums and Luke Davies on bass guitar with the all singing all dancing "Soul Sisters" Sarah Grant and Emma Davison singing harmonies. |
